Preventive Care, an Act of Self-Love

What does SELF-LOVE mean to you? For me, it means preventive care. After the busyness of summer, it’s a great time to schedule screenings. Here, is what I recommend if you entered your sweet 50's.

  • Pap smear - Test for Cervical Cancer

  • Mammogram - Test for Breast Cancer

  • 25-hydroxy vitamin D - Needed for normal bone development and maintenance. Low vitamin D is also linked to depression-like symptoms

  • Hemoglobin A1c - This shows your blood sugar over the past 2 to 3 months

  • hsC-reactive protein test - Helps diagnose inflammation that can lead to rheumatoid arthritis or lupus and can determine your risk for heart disease

  • DHEA-sulfate - This test shows how well your adrenal glands are working and are needed to produce DHEAS that produces our sex hormones, cortisol, and helps control your heart rate and blood pressure.

  • Colonoscopy - Colon Cancer (NOTE: They have test kits now, so unless you have issues, you don’t have to do a colonoscopy.) Yay!!!

  • Another test you might consider is the bone density test that detects if you have osteoporosis. As Estrogen drops during menopause, so does our bone density.

Some of the tests above will be included in a comprehensive metabolic and hormone panel test, but I wanted to highlight them specifically. Also, these are my recommendations, so have a yearly check-up and discuss your personal care plan with your doctor.

Take good care and give yourself the LOVE you deserve with Preventive Care to live a long, healthy life and thrive.

Much Love,

Elisabetta
